A conversation with a child about Pirates inspired this ad hoc adventure. Pirate hats and telescopes were made for all the children who then followed a treasure map on a journey that took them over quick-sand, deep dark woods, shark infested pools and a long tunnel, finally leading to some well-deserved treasure!
The journey was entirely invented by the children, with each adventure creating new talking points such as what quick-sand was and where you could find any. Songs were sung whilst each child negotiated the obstacle course set out across the room.
The adventure was such fun that a week later, children are still drawing new treasure maps and making pirate swords as conversations about the journey are encouraged still.
