We had two separate recommendations from Ofsted during the 2015 inspection.
One regarding 'additional individual reporting' is already in place.
The second recommendation was how to ‘enhance children’s learning further by reshaping planned activities to support children’s interest’.
Though we felt that we already implemented this through activities such as 'Our Voice Corner' (see our May 2015 blog post), we agreed that we could do more.
Also it was clear that the lack of documentation supporting the activities that we did cover needed to be addressed.
The committee got together with the staff to look at
other ways we could improve on the issues listed above. We have since revised some of our existing processes to ensure that staff are not only aware
of their (key) children’s interests, but that they clearly record it. Furthermore, staff are required to look at ways of linking planned
activities to their key interest.
All interest-lead activities are to be recorded within the relevant A3 Progress Sheet, and revised and discussed with the pre-school manager (Pam).
For this reason, it is important that all parents complete the ‘your child’s interests’ in our Joining Form as best they can – this will be the starting point for our staff when assessing new children’s interests as well as reviewing their progress.
